TAFE and AQF qualifications
The completion of certain TAFE studies will qualify you for entry to Curtin, so many students who didn't successfully complete year 12 use it as a stepping stone.
Curtin's minimum entry requirements for students who have studied at TAFE are:
- Certificate IV
In many cases though, a diploma or higher is required for entry. - English language competence
Certain TAFE communication units or the STAT Written English test are ways of showing competence in English, but there are other ways to demonstrate English competence - refer to the list of approved English qualifications [.pdf - 62 kB] - Subject prerequisites specific to the university course
For some courses, you need to have specific knowledge of certain subjects to gain entry.
Credit for your TAFE study
TAFE students who complete a diploma, associate diploma or advanced diploma related to their chosen university course may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning.
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
AQF qualifications are TAFE-level qualifications offered by institutions other than TAFE. The minimum entry requirements that apply to TAFE leavers also apply to holders of AQF qualifications.
