TAFE and other AQF qualifications

Graduating from TAFE or another Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) provider can qualify you for entry to Curtin, so many students who didn't successfully complete year 12 use it as a stepping stone to university.

About the qualifications

AQF qualifications include certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas such as those offered through TAFE, CIC and other training institutions. If you have received one of the following qualifications from an AQF-recognised institution you meet Curtin's minimum academic entry requirements.

English language competence

If you have received a diploma or advanced diploma, you have automatically satisfied our English requirement. If you have received only a certificate IV, completing certain TAFE communication units or the STAT Written English test are ways of showing competence in English, but there are other ways - refer to the list of approved English qualifications [.pdf - 87 kB].

Subject prerequisites

For some courses, you need to have specific knowledge of certain subjects to gain entry. Find out if your studies make you eligible for the course you're interested in by finding your intended course or sending us an enquiry.
