Apply for second semester

To apply to study an undergraduate course at Curtin in second semester, you can apply directly to Curtin.

Direct Curtin applications generally open in April. Please make sure to check the application deadlines page to see the specific deadlines of any courses you are applying for.

Semester start times

First semester commences in late February or early March each year. Second semester commences in late July or early August each year. See our academic calendar for more details.

Notification of application result

Once you’ve sent your application to TISC or directly to Curtin, you will receive a confirmation email that it has been received.

Please check the TISC website for TISC notification dates.

The length of time it takes to process a direct Curtin application can vary, depending on the application type. Some applications can take longer to process, including those that:

  • have not submitted all documents, or have submitted the wrong type of document
  • are based on credit for recognised learning (CRL)
  • are from applicants who are applying for competitive courses – these applications are held and applicants are ranked and then notified at the same time
  • are based on an overseas qualification.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email. Successful applicants will be sent a letter of offer. You can accept your offer and enrol in your course, or you can defer your offer.

Apply to study a course through Curtin Open Universities Australia

Curtin offers a number of its courses fully online via Open Universities Australia (OUA). When you complete a Curtin degree through OUA, you will get the same quality degree as if you’d studied directly through Curtin.

You can enrol in some Curtin OUA courses straight away without needing to apply or meet any admission criteria. However, to fully complete some Curtin OUA courses, it is recommended that you apply first and then enrol in units based on the appropriate study pattern.

Check eligibility criteria

Some Curtin OUA courses have restrictions and require you to apply first and meet the admission criteria, which includes English language proficiency. Restricted courses will have ‘Restrictions apply’ written beneath the ‘Enrol online now’ button. Specific course admission criteria can be found under the section ‘Are you eligible?’ on the course summary page.

Some units within courses also have special requirements, such as Working with Children Check, which you will need to acquire before starting those units. Some course units also have a compulsory practical component, requiring students to undertake professional field placement, so you will need to ensure you are able to meet this commitment before you enrol.

If you’re not sure which course you want to study, or you do not meet the course admission eligibility criteria for restricted courses, OUA offers pathways and preparatory units, as well as English language test preparation and bridging units.

Apply for the course

  1. Select the course you wish to apply for and click ‘Enrol online now’ at the top of the course page.
  2. Select ‘Apply now’ and follow the prompts. If you are eligible to apply straight away, select ‘Apply online’.
  3. You will be required to fill in all application fields. You may also need to provide certified copies of any documentation you are using to meet the academic admission criteria.
  4. Finalise your application and submit.

Enrol in units

  1. Select the course you wish to apply for and click ‘Enrol online now’ at the top of the course page.
  2. Scroll down to ‘Enrol in units now’ and read the important information about unit selection.
  3. Select the units you wish to study and they will be added to your study cart.
  4. Go to your study cart by clicking on the shopping trolley icon on the top right hand corner of the page.
  5. Your study cart will display all units you have selected, and then you will be able to choose which study term you would like to study in.
  6. Once you’re satisfied with your units and study term choices, press the ‘Enrol now’ button at the bottom right corner.
  7. Fill out the Enrol page information and select a payment method.

You can also view the enrolment process through OUA.
